Each offseason, teams in the NFL risk losing their best coaches and front office employees as teams look to fill out their staff by poaching talent from their counterparts in the league.

This offseason, director of player personnel Terrance Gray interviewed for multiple NFL general manager positions, but opted to remain in Western New York. On Friday, Gray was promoted to serve as Buffalo’s assistant general manager, and today’s edition of Buffalo Rumblinks leads off with coverage of Gray’s promotion, which was among a handful of promotions and additions the Bills made to their personnel and analytics staffs.

Gray, who is in his ninth season with the Bills, had both a virtual and an in-person interview for the Tennessee Titans’ general manager vacancy in January, and interviewed for the Jacksonville Jaguars’ general manager position in February before being bypassed for those openings.

Gray, who has been in the NFL for 23 years, was hired by current Bills general manager Brandon Beane as part of his initial staff in 2017. He spent the last three seasons as director of player personnel after serving as the team’s assistant director of player personnel for the 2021 season. Gray joins Brian Gaine as Buffalo’s two assistant general managers on staff.

Among the other front office moves, analytics specialist Dennis Lock was promoted to serve as vice president of football research.
