Will Levis is set to miss the entire 2025 NFL season following a key decision.
The Tennessee Titans quarterback has opted to undergo season-ending shoulder surgery, a move that will significantly impact the team’s depth in the position.
Levis’ decision was announced just days before the start of training camp. It also confirms that the AC joint injury he sustained during Week 4 of last season had not fully healed.
The former Penn State and Kentucky signal-caller was expected to compete with No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward for the starting job. But the Titans will now look to Brandon Allen and Tim Boyle as backups.
Levis played through the shoulder injury in 2024, which likely factored into his 2-10 record as a starter.
The 26-year-old participated in OTAs and minicamp this offseason, but it appears the pain levels were too high, leaving him inclined to prioritize his long-term health instead.
According to ESPN, Levis will have the operation on July 29 and is expected to return for the 2026 season.
“We support his decision to focus on his long-term health,” the team said in a statement. “He approached the offseason with professionalism and showed clear growth as a leader. We remain confident in his full recovery.”
“I think anyone who’s ever been in my situation can agree that it sucks,” Levis remarked. “I’m trying to do everything I can to not let it affect me and just be the same dude every day in the building.”
Given this development, Cam Ward’s path to QB1 is clearer, with the Titans now set to head into a new era with a quarterback who has been one of the most impressive in college football over the past few years.
He is expected to lead the team against the Denver Broncos in Week 1.
TPS wishes Will a successful surgery and speedy recovery.
