The Tennessee Titans own the rights to the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. President of Football Operations Chad Brinker was recently asked about the team’s plans as they relate to the selection process.
Brinker’s response sparked immediate speculation surrounding the future of QB Will Levis. Many believe the passer could be back in Nashville next season.
Levis struggled in his most recent campaign, throwing 13 scores and 12 picks across 12 starts. The Titans went just 2-10 in those contests.
The quarterback was briefly benched with his ex-girlfriend in the stands amid a three-interception afternoon vs. the Bengals. It was one of many games in which Levis committed comical turnovers throughout the season.
His midseason benching led many to believe the team would move on from their former second-round pick in ’25. That thought process would involve the Titans selecting a signal caller with the No. 1 pick. Brinker sparked confusion on Tennessee’s future this week.

Brinker specifically says, “generational talent,” rather than “generational quarterback.” Heisman trophy winner Travis Hunter might fit that description most accurately of any player in the draft class.
Hunter shined on both offense and defense at Colorado last season on his way to national prominence. He led the Big 12 in receiving while pacing the Buffaloes in interceptions. Some believe he’s a ‘must-have’ for any NFL team.
Travis Hunter is the EASY No. 1 pick. He’s the best player. There isn’t a no-brainer, sure-fire NFL stud signal-caller in this draft. Hunter elevates everyone around him. Draft him (play him at WR), try and sign a QB in free agency and roll from there.

The latest draft odds would suggest the Titans will select a quarterback. Both Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders boast better chances of hearing their names called when Tennessee makes its choice. Hunter ranks third on the list.
Brinker was asked about the quarterback position, too, and only added to the Travis Hunter whispers. “It’s the most important position in football… Obviously, we have Will Levis here. We’ve got to continue to see him develop and grow. He’s gonna get an opportunity to compete for the starting job next year…”
There are still options when it comes to the quarterback’s future with the team. He could win the starting job. He could stay and find himself on the bench. He could be cut. The Titans’ draft decision will have an impact.
Should the franchise make the surprise pick, it likely means Will Levis stays for another season longer. That may not be music to Tennessee Titans fans’ ears, but at least Hunter could provide the offense...
