The Tennessee Titans are one of two teams that have already fired their head coach this season, giving them and the New York Giants an early start on identifying candidates for next season. The Titans moved on from head coach Brian Callahan after a 3-14 debut season, followed by starting 1-5 this year.

Former San Diego Chargers head coach Mike McCoy took over for Callahan on an interim basis, but he hasn’t been any better, rattling off four consecutive losses. Needless to say, the Titans will be hiring a new head coach this offseason, and chances are they’ll place a heavy priority on finding a sharp offensive mind capable of maximizing Cam Ward’s potential.

Recently, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler mentioned Matt Nagy as a potential head coach to take over in Tennessee in 2026, noting that the Kansas City Chiefs’ offensive coordinator “has connections” with the Titans.

Before the Titans hired general manager Mike Borgonzi in 2025, he spent 2009 to 2024 as a member of the Chiefs’ organization, rising up the ranks. Nagy overlapped with Borgonzi for eight seasons in Kansas City, and he’d fit the billing as a coach with a history of working with young QBs.

Nagy previously served as the Chicago Bears’ head coach from 2018 to 2021, leading them to a 34-31 record across parts of four seasons. Of course, he didn’t experience nearly the same amount of success as he did in Kansas City, where he won two Super Bowls alongside Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes.

Yet, Nagy has since learned from his challenges in the Windy City, and he’s been trying to get back into a head coaching role ever since, and Tennessee could present the perfect opportunity.
