Taulia Tagovailoa had an incredibly productive career after transferring from Alabama to Maryland, but things are not going so well for him right now as he plays European football.

Professional football, NFL or not, isn’t easy.

Tagovailoa, former Maryland quarterback and a rookie in the European League of Football, is immediately finding that out.

Taulia, brother of Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, debuted for the Hamburg Sea Devils overseas in a game that couldn’t have started any worse for him.

A quarterback’s biggest nightmare played out in real-time as his first attempt was picked off for a defensive touchdown.

Tagovailoa’s final stat line read: 5 completions in 17 attempts (29%) for 85 yards, one pick, and three sacks.

This is a far cry from when he was breaking school records for most completions, highest completion percentage, most passing yards, most passing touchdowns, most total offensive yards in a career, most completions, and most touchdowns responsible for in a career.

“It was a very hard debut for Hamburg’s new quarterback, Taulia Tagovailoa,” Alex Malchow wrote for the league’s official website.

“He was replaced mid of the game by Moritz Maack, who managed to achieve two touchdowns for the Sea Devils.”

CFL’s Hamilton Tiger-Cats Released Taulia Tagovailoa

Taulia Tagovailoa’s CFL journey is over, at least for now.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats released Tagovailoa in advance of the opening of training camp last month.

After going undrafted a year ago, Tua’s younger brother landed with the Tiger-Cats. He appeared in eight games, rushing three times for 10 yards and a touchdown. He threw one pass, completing it for six yards.

Last year, he participated in both the Seahawks’ and Cardinals’ rookie minicamps on a tryout basis. He received an offer from neither team.
