Takeaways from Titans general manager Mike Borgonzi’s press conference

One interesting note to start, the Tennessee Titans are going to be the sole carrier of live press conferences going forward. In the past, you could hear pressers on the local radio stations here in Nashville. That is not the case anymore. They can replay the press conferences, but cannot carry them live. You can get them on the Titans’ social media channels or on the Titans app.

Also, the power went out at St. Thomas Sports Park toward the beginning of Borgonzi’s presser. Is there anything more Titans than that?

Mike Borgonzi said he will lead a committee in the head coaching search that includes President of Football Operations Chad Brinker, Assistant GM Dave Ziegler, Vice President/Football Advisor Reggie McKenzie, and Vice President/Player Personnel Dan Saganey. The Titans have no shortage of experience in their front office. This should be a huge benefit to them in this process.

Some other takeaways:

  • Cam Ward will get to meet the finalists for the job, but will not really be involved in the process. Borgonzi laughed when asked the question and said sometimes he wishes Cam would say less. I hope that Cam never changes the way he answers questions.
  • When asked about a “leader of men,” Borgonzi said sometimes that can be overblown. They want someone who can come in and lead the players and his staff. That doesn’t always look the same.
  • Borgonzi declined to get into any specific names that have been reported to this point.
  • When asked about Will Levis, Brogonzi said that Levis will have a role on this team in 2026.
  • Borgonzi was asked about prospects in the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft. He said that will be a better question for his press conference at the 2026 NFL Combine.

I’m excited to see how this process plays out with Borgonzi at the helm. He had a pretty solid first year as the GM of the Titans, but this coaching hire is what will most likely make or break him here. I have confidence that he will get it right.
