Few fans of the New York Giants still had faith in their team after the collapse to the (then) 0-4 New Orleans Saints in Week 5.

Thanks to the quick turnaround between that game and the Giants’ meeting with the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday Night Football, we didn’t ask a specific question in our weekly fan survey. However, we did run the regular confidence poll and it bore out just how disappointed fans were in their team… At least up until about 11pm Thursday night.

Yes, less than 1 in 4 fans thought the Giants are headed in the right direction. That marked a new low on the season, down from the 27 percent confidence following the Giants’ Week 1 loss to the Washington Commanders.

At least, that’s what the number was prior to Thursday Night Football.

Then the Giants unleashed a 17-point drubbing of the reigning Super Bowl champions, beating their division rivals 34-17. The rout was so complete that the Eagles surrendered at the 2:00, letting the Giants finish out the game in the victory formation despite still being able to stop the clock.

Fan confidence has varied pretty wildly this year, from a high of 92 percent following a dominant preseason, down to 27 percent, then spiking back up to 72 percent after the win over the Chargers.

I suspect we’re going to see another spike when we get the results from next week’s poll. Based on some of the comments we’ve gotten on our post-game coverage, the rebound could be significant.
