Fantasy football is just as big as football fandom in the United States, with players going to great lengths to gain an edge.
It could be rough when you lose, as one fantasy football player recently found out the hard way after experiencing embarrassment at the Dallas Cowboys training camp.
Sportsbetting.ag has ranked all 50 U.S. states based on the performances of their fantasy football teams. The outlet used “tweets, hashtags, and direct keyword phrases about winning a fantasy football league,” to complete the rankings.
The site also determined that Utah, South Dakota, Hawaii, Alaska, and Wyoming have the worst players. This makes sense, considering they all lack NFL teams or great college programs.
According to the study, only 0.9 percent of Utah fantasy players tweeted about winning their league last season, while 1.1 percent of Hawaii and South Dakota players did. Alaska and Wyoming were at 1.2 and 1.3 percent, respectively.
As for the best fantasy states, they’re as follows: Wisconsin, Texas, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Minnesota.
Yes, they all boast NFL teams and have top college programs. The Packers and Badgers are in Wisconsin, while Texas has the Cowboys and the Texans, plus multiple NCAA teams.
Pennsylvania is home to the Eagles and Steelers, as well as Penn State, and Ohio has the Browns and Bengals, as well as the reigning national champions, Ohio State. The Vikings and Gophers are based in Minnesota.
It appears there’s a clear advantage here, pretty much like the one Adam Schefter was busted for using for his fantasy draft.
