Where will Aaron Rodgers end up?
The San Francisco 49ers are still working to extend Brock Purdy’s contract after he led them to a Super Bowl and two NFC Championship Games. However, there are two big concerns about his future: injuries and his contract.
Rodgers has been connected to the Pittsburgh Steelers this offseason, but nothing has come of it as we move into May.
He even visited the team’s facility and had a throwing session with DK Metcalf. However, no deal is in place.
Over the past few years, there have been rumors that Aaron Rodgers would be interested in playing for the San Francisco 49ers.
The latest one came from Bleacher Report’s Mitch Milani, who thinks the Pittsburgh Steelers might have some competition if the 49ers want to have protection for Purdy.
“The reason I bring this up is because Brock Purdy’s been injured quite a bit,” Milani said.
“He got injured in the NFC Championship Game a couple of years back. That was a serious injury. He got injured last year. He is a smaller quarterback, and this is a team that, yes, brought in Mac Jones, but I don’t know if anyone is thinking the 49ers are a contender, a playoff team, or some sort of NFC Threat with Mac Jones. I think Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch give Aaron Rodgers a call.”
Competing reports also indicate that Purdy could be traded if Rodgers comes to San Francisco, prompting debates about the team’s direction and capability.
The 49ers are currently preparing for the upcoming NFL season, likely opting to keep Purdy as their starting quarterback.
Aaron Rodgers has not yet signed with a team for the 2025 NFL season, and it is unclear when he plans to make a decision.
While he’s been heavily rumored to be joining the Pittsburgh Steelers, he’s not yet made an official announcement.
Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk suggested that Rodgers should purposefully delay signing with the Steelers until after the NFL Schedule Release.
Rodgers could sign in the coming weeks.
