After months of storylines and interesting debates, Aaron Rodgers has finally made a decision on what he’ll be doing with his life during the 2025 NFL season. While the move was seemingly long expected, Rodgers has finally committed to the Pittsburgh Steelers on a one-year contract.
Yet, while today it appears that the Steelers may have been the only starting opportunity the four-time NFL MVP had, Rodgers reportedly had other options. We already know Rodgers met with the New York Giants, who ultimately decided to move on to other options like Russell Wilson, Jameis Winston, and Jaxson Dart. Though, Rodgers may have had another opportunity too.
Specifically, according to head coach Sean McVay, Rodgers was a “possibility” for the Los Angeles Rams too. Yet, the Rams had other priorities, such as making sure they could retain Matthew Stafford as their starting quarterback instead.
It seems as if Rodgers would have only potentially been in play if Stafford couldn’t work out a new contract arrangement with the Rams. Yet, it’s clear that the Rams wanted to maintain the status quo with Stafford instead of being forced to turn to Rodgers.
However, it does paint another interesting scenario, had Stafford ended up on another team. Would the Rams have been more aggressive trying to land a potential QB of the future in the 2025 NFL Draft? We’ll never know.
