How will the Big Game shake out?

Happy Super Bowl LIX to those who celebrate! The Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles will kick off the final game of the 2024-25 NFL season in their quest for the Lombardi Trophy at 6:30 p.m. ET, airing on Fox.

The Chiefs, of course, are looking to become the first team in NFL history to achieve three consecutive Super Bowl wins and cement their standing alongside the greatest NFL dynasties in the modern era, including, of course, the 70’s Pittsburgh Steelers and 00’s New England Patriots.

Here’s a look at the Super Bowl predictions from the staff of Behind The Steel Curtain.

This is the ultimate don’t overthink it Super Bowl matchup. The Chiefs kicked off their quest for a 3-peat by beating the Eagles two years ago. Though the rosters have changed the crux of the matchup remains the same as it was then and against the Niners last year: is it better to have one of the best and deepest rosters in the league or the league’s best QB with one of the best HC’s and DC’s of all time? KC wins 31-25. — Ryan Parish

The Eagles have the best roster in the NFL and are more than capable of winning a Super Bowl. Counterpoint: Patrick Mahomes. Andy Reid. Steve Spagnuolo. On the biggest stage where they tend to play their best, there’s no way I’m not choosing Kansas City to win this one. Thankfully, the Chiefs’ winning style hasn’t been as dominant as their record this season, so I think we’ll be in for an entertaining game.

Kansas City wins 27-24. — Ryland Bickley

The Eagles have all the weapons to win this game, if they don’t turn the ball over. Barkley may not have received the votes to be league MVP, but he will be the Big Game’s most valuable player.

Eagles 31, Chiefs 24 — Kyle Chrise

The Chiefs have played with fire seemingly every week this season. They hold the NFL record having won 17 straight games by one possession. Another escape against the Bills in the AFC championship has folks wondering if they are finally due to lose a close game.

News flash: they aren’t. Eventually, it sinks in that they aren’t lucky or being helped by referees (c'mon) - they’re just that damn good. You make your own luck. They deserve credit for continuously finding ways to win. Much of that is due to the play of their quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who will once again find a way to make big plays down the stretch. I think the Chiefs defense will corral Saquon Barkley, and force Jalen Hurts to beat them. Although he’s...
