A former Super Bowl champion gives his opinion on the state of the Pittsburgh Steelers roster.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have added several new pieces to their roster this offseason that they think can help them contend for another AFC North title and maybe even a Super Bowl. Former Steelers Super Bowl champion Willie Colon doesn’t think that is completely out of the question, either.
In fact, Colon believes the Steelers 2026 roster is the best it has been since the team was contending for Super Bowls nearly a decade ago with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.
“This, collectively, might be the most talented group, this year, the Steelers have had in a long time,” Colon said on The Jim Rome Show. “Maybe since when Todd Haley was the OC there, or when BA was there, Bruce Arians.”
The Steelers have certainly upgrade both sides of the ball. On offense, they traded for veteran wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr., signed running back Rico Dowdle in free agency and added Alabama’s Germie Bernard in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft.
Then on defense, Pittsburgh signed veteran cornerback Jamel Dean, former second-round safety Jaquan Brisker and defensive lineman Sebastian Joseph-Day, among others.
Much of the Steelers’ success will fall on the shoulders of quarterback Aaron Rodgers once again, but Colon is not worried about the 42-year-old or the offensive line in front of him.
“I think Aaron is gonna be fine,” Colon continued. “I think you have to look at it from a collective standpoint. The offense is going through construction, and it starts with the offensive line. That right side of the offensive line, led by Troy Fautanu and Mason McCormick, they’re moving those guys to the left side of the offensive line.”
