Super Bowl 59 live chat, open thread: Chiefs vs. Eagles
Pride of Detroit Pride of Detroit

Come enjoy our live chat during Super Bowl 59: Chiefs vs. Eagles.

Whether you like it or not, the NFL’s Lombardi Trophy will go to either the Philadelphia Eagles or the Kansas City Chiefs. It’s Super Bowl 59, and nobody is happy.

But you could put together my two least favorite teams in the NFL’s final game, and I would still end up watching the Super Bowl. For one, it’s a spectacle. And beyond that, if you squint hard enough, there are some heartwarming stories in every single team’s run. Maybe there’s a player who has overcome incredible odds to get there, or (definitely not in this case) a fan or fanbase that has a chance for some rare excitement.

It may be harder to find those stories this year, but on a very basic level: it’s football, and it’s the last NFL football we’re getting until September. That is enough justification to watch.

So if you’re watching along with me, this is the live thread to chat with your fellow Lions fans. Yell at C.J. Gardner-Johnson. Root for Darius Slay. Share all your ridiculous officiating conspiracy theories. Talk about your favorite commercials or offer your thoughts on the halftime show. Lament that you didn’t win squares or celebrate the fact that you did.

Everything is game, as long as you remain respectful to one another and all groups of people (except Eagles fans, they’re fair game).

Enjoy the season finale of the 2024 season, and as always, go Lions!
