Last year, the 49ers were a popular pick by many for a Super Bowl appearance. That didn’t exactly happen. They went 6-11, and the less said of that season, the better.
This year, the 49ers don’t have nearly as many predictions for playing football in February. They’ve retooled the roster and gotten younger, letting veterans like Dre Greenlaw walk or be traded like Deebo Samuel. This one is pretty easy to understand. Regardless of how much the 49ers have changed, they still have one of the easier schedules in the league. A rarity, as before the 2025 season, they were consistently getting slapped with the opposite year after year.
Due to the easy schedule, a wild card spot shouldn’t be out of the question. Especially since the NFL put in that “everyone gets a trophy” rule by expanding the playoff roster. To add to this, the 49ers are +650 for the No. 1 seed.
Again, thanks to that schedule, the 49ers are seen as the favorites to take the NFC West. The Rams aren’t far behind. How the Seahawks are behind the Cardinals for winning the division is beyond me.
This is where it’s going to start getting dicey. A playoff appearance isn’t too far-fetched, but the 49ers being the NFC’s representative of the Super Bowl is another thing entirely. The 49ers currently have the fourth-best odds to win the NFC Championship, behind the Philadelphia Eagles, Detroit Lions, and Green Bay Packers. Again, with +900, putting a few bucks on this for fandom doesn’t seem like a bad idea.
