Strange Mechanical Flaw May Have Led To Injury For Kansas City Chiefs Kicker Harrison Butker

Harrison Butker has long been one of the best kickers in the NFL. The Chiefs have been able to rely on him in so many crucial spots during their dynasty the last half-dozen years.

The Chiefs are gonna be without him for the next few weeks, however, as an injury has sidelined the star. And, it could be a strange mechanical flaw that caused Butker’s injury.

Butker, who is 18-20 on field goals this year, was reported to be out for 3-4 weeks on Wednesday, with a stint on Injured Reserve possible.

That could be a potentially big blow for the Kansas City Chiefs, who have been playing a ton of close games this year. The Chiefs haven’t been converting drives into touchdowns, so kicking is paramount.

Butker’s injury is to his left knee, which is his plant leg. What could’ve caused it? here’s one idea.

Harrison Butker has collapsed on his left knee following through EVERY kick this season.

It is a change in his technique that really caught my attention, and unfortunately it’s not surprising his left knee needs a meniscus procedure.

Hope he gets healthy. https://t.co/DsSVrKmFuz pic.twitter.com/1szLcRzQea

Drew Butler is a former NFL punter, so he knows a thing or two about the mechanics of kicking a football. But it doesn’t take an expert to know that something is off with that motion.

Could Harrison Butker have been compensating for an injury, whether it’s the one that sidelined him or a different one? That seems like a good possibility. Either way, this is something that could hurt the Chiefs in the next few weeks, starting with a big game against Buffalo on Sunday.
