The Los Angeles Rams won their first preseason game of 2025; beating the Dallas Cowboys 31-21 at SoFi Stadium. The 31 points by the offense is the best scoring output during the Sean McVay era. With plenty of scoring offense, Sean McVay and his staff should be encouraged about the progress of the roster’s depth considering starters were held out from this one.
STOCK UP:
Stetson Bennett, QB
Stetson Bennett has come a long ways as a professional quarterback. Even though it was a preseason game, the Rams third string quarterback looked sharp for the majority of the game. There were tight window throws that Bennett showed the ability to execute.
Other than the interception, where Bennett tried to go deep while on the run stepping up in the pocket, the third year QB was solid. If you remember, Bennett threw 4 interceptions this time last year against…the Cowboys. Growth. Stock up for the former Georgia Bulldog.
Jarquez Hunter, RB
Sean McVay’s favorite day 3 pick earned the most rushing attempts and showed a steady hand.
Blake Corum, RB
Blake Corum only averaged 3.6 yards per carry, but it was behind the Rams second string offensive line. He secured the Rams first two touchdowns of the preseason.
Xavier Smith, WR
Smith was targeted three times and hauled in all three passes; pacing LA wide receivers with 55 yards. He had two excellent catches in traffic; including this over the should catch on 4th & 6 to set up the first touchdown.
Josiah Stewart
LA’s defensive front was only able to bring Joe Milton and Will Grier down 1 time but luckily it was from the player that Chris Shula is hoping to have on the field in the regular season – their 2025 third round selection Josiah Stewart. He beat Dallas’s right tackle on a 1 on 1 to bring down Joe Milton. LA drafted him to replace Michael Hoecht and the vision was for him to assume a key role in their Cheetah package.
Cam Lampkin, DB
The undrafted free agent recorded the Rams only turnover; snagging a pass from Joe Milton III on an attempt in the Rams endzone.
Ethan Evans
Evans had 2 punts: one for 64 yards and other for 81(!) yards. That’s an average of 72.5 yards per punt. Talk about flipping field position. The strongest punter in the NFL delivered with his leg when called upon.
Josh Karty
Karty was 4/4 on XPs and connected on his only field goal attempt from 37 yards.
STOCK DOWN:
KT Leveston, OT
KT Leveston had 1 holding call. Holding calls have been drive killers in the past for LA and Leveston killed the drive after his holding call.
Beaux Limmer, C/G
Limmer started the majority of the games at center in 2024 for the Rams because of Jonah Jackson’s injury. However, Limmer has lost his job and is having to play in preseason games in 2025; meaning he is not safe from roster cuts.
Willie Lampkin, C/G...
