Steve Smith Sr. and his family were rocked over the weekend after a furious husband exposed the former NFL wide receiver for having an affair with his wife.
The individual, Antonio Martinez, took to social media with screenshots from raunchy conversations that supposedly took place between Smith and his wife. He also recorded himself calling the football analyst to let him know he’d been found out and asking him what he had to say for himself.
Martinez also revealed that his wife, Nicole, is a member of the Baltimore Ravens’ marching band, the Marching Ravens, and they met while Smith played for the team.
Smith was heard saying, “I’m sorry,” on the other end of the call noted above.
His son, Peyton, has since addressed the controversy, thanking the folks who have shown his family support while adding a message for those who fed the “negativity.”
“Your kind words and prayers are felt and appreciated. God’s got us,” he wrote via Instagram.
“I won’t take much time feeding into the negativity, but to those sending hateful messages to my family, I hope you take time to reflect that you have nothing better to do with your day than to message hate to a stranger.”
Steve Smith Sr. spent 13 years with the Carolina Panthers after he was drafted as a third-round pick in 2001. He ended his career in Baltimore, playing his final three seasons with the Ravens.
The former wide receiver has been married since 2000.
Since his retirement, Smith has worked as an analyst for NFL Network and called preseason games for the Panthers broadcast network.
He has yet to address the matter himself.
