Stephen Jones on Micah Parsons contract talks: ‘We’ll continue to grind’

Stephen Jones had an “update” on Micah Parsons during the Dallas Cowboys pregame show on Saturday, if you want to call it that. Speaking with the team’s official broadcast, the Cowboys’ EVP noted that until a contract is done it isn’t officially done. He added that it is difficult to speculate on the state of a negotiation as nothing is truly done until it is done, that certainly makes sense, and therefore essentially said that things are exactly where they have been with Parsons.

To be clear it is a bit unconventional for Stephen to be the one speaking to the media in this spot. Cowboys owner, president and general manager tends to handle these interviews during the preseason (they are part of the broadcasts associated with this time of year, once the regular season begins things change) but the broadcast noted that Jerry Jones was speaking with Stan Kroenke so Stephen must have jumped in; however, Jerry did find time to speak to the official radio broadcast on 105.3 The Fan and essentially said more of the same.

For what it’s worth the broadcast tried to establish a point of goodwill and said that it must be nice for Stephen to see Parsons in attendance for the Cowboys preseason game. Stephen noted that Parsons is under contract and expected to be there, so again, everything is sort of literal right now.

The preseason is literally beginning for the Cowboys and this contract dispute remains an issue. It was completely predictable, but it is still unbelievable.
