Speculation about ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith potentially running for President of the United States continues to pick up steam.

In the past, Stephen A. Smith has expressed interest in running for President of the United States. As we saw with Ronald Reagan and Donald Trump, a high-profile celebrity can become the POTUS if they run the right campaign.

As the United States constitution limits each president to two terms, Trump won’t be eligible to run again in 2028. A new president will be crowned in the next election, and Smith is quickly emerging as one of the odds-on favorites to represent the Democratic Party in 2028.

Per Ryan Glasspiegel of Front Office Sports, American prediction market Kalshi gives Stephen A. Smith the fourth-best odds (an implied chance of 7.26 percent) of being the Democrat nominee for the 2028 presidential election:

“Smith has the same price as Pete Buttigieg, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Gretchen Whitmer. Only Gavin Newsom, Josh Shapiro, and Wes Moore have shorter odds. Smith has better odds than J.B. Pritzker, Andy Beshear, Kamala Harris, Michelle Obama, Raphael Warnock, John Fetterman, and Mark Cuban.”

Stephen A. Smith has the fourth-best gambling odds to be the 2028 Democratic presidential nominee, with a 7.26% implied chance.

He’s currently tied with Pete Buttigieg and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in the betting markets.

Trump defeated Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 election. Harris won the Democratic nomination easily after Joe Biden announced in July that he wouldn’t seek re-election.

Stephen A. Smith Would Have Plenty Of Supporters Behind Him

Trump became the first American president who had no prior political experience or military service. Love or hate “The Donald”, the man changed the American presidential landscape forever and showed other celebrities that anyone can become the most powerful person in the world.

As one of America’s most popular, recognizable and followed sports analysts, Smith would have his fair share of supporters if he ran for office. Few analysts in the world of sports journalism match his humor, outspoken personality and charisma, after all.
