Stefon Diggs and the New England Patriots traveled to Buffalo on Sunday night to take on the undefeated Bills in an AFC East matchup.

It marked the first return to Orchard Park for Diggs since leaving the Bills prior to the 2024 season. Diggs was in Buffalo for four seasons and had some of his best career moments with the team. However, Diggs was clearly unhappy with the Bills and was traded to the Houston Texans as a result.

After just one season with the Texans, Diggs landed a big payday with the Patriots this offseason. Diggs has been a reliable veteran presence for young quarterback Drake Maye, but he was clearly saving his best performance for his old team.

On Sunday night, Diggs caught 10 passes for 146 yards. The receiver set season-highs in catches and yards and went over 100 yards for the second-straight weekend.

After the game, Diggs was asked if his performance against the Bills was personal.

“100 percent,” Diggs replied.

It certainly seemed like Diggs was playing with an extra edge, so it wasn’t surprising to hear him confirm it. Whether players admit it or not, there’s always a desire to show out against your former team.

“It was lit, prime time,” Diggs added, via The Associated Press. “It was electrifying. I knew it was going to be a test for us.”

Before Week 5, Diggs’ best performance of the season came against the Carolina Panthers in Week 4. In that game, Diggs caught six passes for 101 yards as the Patriots did whatever they wanted to do on offense in a 42-13 victory.

Now, Diggs and his Patriots are only one game behind the Bills in the tough AFC East. Up next, the Patriots have very winnable games against the New Orleans Saints, Tennessee Titans, and Cleveland Browns, so there is a real opportunity to stack some wins here.
