A significant update has emerged on Stefon Diggs’ legal situation ahead of the New England Patriots’ Wild Card Round game against the Los Angeles Chargers.
On Dec. 30, news emerged that Stefon Diggs was facing strangulation and assault charges in an incident with his personal chef. Diggs allegedly attacked the woman during an argument over unpaid bills on Dec. 2.
Initially, there were questions about Diggs’ availability for the postseason. While the legal process is far from over, the 32-year-old will not have to miss any playoff games for disciplinary reasons.
Per Steve Cooper of 7News, Stefon Diggs’ arraignment has been pushed from Jan. 23 to Feb. 13, five days after Super Bowl 60. As such, he’s eligible to play in every remaining Patriots game this year.

The All-Pro wide receiver also made headlines last May when a video surfaced of him carrying an unidentified pink substance while partying on a boat. He faced no discipline from the NFL or the Patriots.
Diggs finished his first year as a Patriot with 85 catches for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns, per Pro Football Reference.
The Patriots were one of the biggest surprises in the 2025 regular season, finishing with a 14-3 record. This marked the franchise’s best finish since the 2016 squad that went 14-2, en route to a Super Bowl 51 championship.
New England won its first AFC East division crown since 2019. Sunday’s tilt with the Chargers will also mark New England’s first playoff game at Gillette Stadium since its 2019 Wild Card Round loss to the Tennessee Titans. That game, of course, was Tom Brady’s last as a Patriot.
Tom Brady went 3-0 against the Chargers in the playoffs during his Hall of Fame career. Now, we wait and see if second-year quarterback Drake Maye will lead the Pats to victory in his playoff debut.
