Mandatory minicamp is in the books for the New England Patriots, and one player everyone was paying attention to was Stefon Diggs. In the wake of the action, Diggs shared a post on social media that surely got fans fired up for the upcoming season.
The Patriots signed Diggs to a three-year, $69 million contract in free agency to come in and be their new No. 1 wide receiver. Whether or not the former All-Pro pass-catcher will be ready for the start of the season remains to be seen, though, as he’s recovering from a torn ACL.
Diggs’ injury rehab didn’t stop him from showing up and participating during mandatory minicamp. Along the way, he was unsurprisingly asked about the controversial boat video that surfaced during Memorial Day weekend, but for the most part, that incident seems to be in the rearview mirror.
Considering his experience, and the amount of money the team is now paying him, Diggs is expected to emerge as a leader on offense the moment he takes the field. After mandatory minicamp ended, Diggs shared a motivational post on Instagram that made it clear he’s ready to give it all for his new squad.
“Can’t ask God for anything you’re not willing to work for,” Diggs captioned a photo of himself at minicamp in his new threads.
It didn’t take long for the replies to come from his teammates. Rookie first-rounder Will Campbell commented a fire emoji while fellow wide receiver Demario Douglas dropped an 8-ball emoji in reference to Diggs wearing No. 8.
In 2024, Diggs caught 47 passes for 496 yards and three touchdowns in eight games with the Houston Texans before he tore his ACL. He previously was a Pro Bowler in each of his four seasons with the Buffalo Bills, also earning All-Pro First Team in 2020.
Even though his health is a question mark, Diggs is expected to have a huge role on offense for the Patriots. If he can continue putting in the work necessary behind the scenes, a big season could be in store for him.
