Stefon Diggs and the New England Patriots returned home in Week 8 to take on the Cleveland Browns. The Patriots have been on a roll and are looking to win their fifth consecutive game.
Diggs has been an incredible addition to the team. The veteran receiver was brought in this offseason on a three-year deal, and the hope was that he would help Drake Maye take the next step in his development. So far, that deal has been well worth it.
Entering Week 8, Diggs had 39 catches for 456 yards. Diggs easily leads the team in catches and receiving yards, but entering this weekend, the veteran had surprisingly not found the end zone this season.
Well, that all changed on Sunday. About halfway through the 3rd quarter, Diggs caught a one-yard pass from Maye for his first score of the season and his first as a Patriot.

That score extended the Patriots’ lead to 23-7, but the team has scored again since to make it 30-7 at the end of the third quarter.
Fans would have had a hard time believing that Diggs wouldn’t have a touchdown until Week 8. However, it has worked out fine, as other receivers have stepped up as well, and the Patriots remain in first place in the AFC East. DeMario Douglas, Kayshon Boutte, Mack Hollins, and Hunter all have multiple receiving scores this year.
Up by 23 points in the fourth quarter, it seems extremely likely that the Patriots win their fifth consecutive game in Week 8 and improve to 6-2 on the season. Not only is the team in a great position to have a home playoff game, but Maye is even getting some MVP buzz.
After this weekend, the Patriots will next have games against the Atlanta Falcons and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
