The Patriots officially introduced Stefon Diggs on Friday, and the star wide receiver quickly showed the personality he’ll bring to Foxboro, Mass.
New England signed Diggs to a three-year, $69 million contract that includes $26 million guaranteed. The 31-year-old confirmed on social media and in his news conference that Mike Vrabel was a motivating factor in signing with the Patriots. Diggs also revealed a memorable introduction to his new head coach.
“I told him he was young and handsome,” Diggs told reporters of when he first met Vrabel, per the Patriots. “He’s still kinda young, but I don’t know about the handsome part. I make a lot of jokes, so there’s gonna be a lot more (social media) posts, but it’s something to be excited about.”
The All-Pro wide receiver revealed he met Vrabel at a Pro Bowl and expressed how excited he was to build relationships with everyone on the team. Diggs reconnected with wide receivers coach Todd Downing and Vrabel during his visit and seems bought in on the vision in New England.
Despite the memes and jokes on social media, Diggs affirmed his competitive spirit, which should excite Patriots fans as Drake Maye finally has a legitimate No. 1 option to throw to.
