It’s been nearly eight months since New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs suffered a torn ACL in Week 8 of the 2024 season, his lone campaign with the Houston Texans.
Friday will mark four months since the Patriots took a chance on Diggs via a three-year, $69 million contract and with practices officially beginning on Wednesday, head coach Mike Vrabel announced that the 31-year-old will be a full-go.
After finishing last year with career lows in nearly every offensive category (due largely to the season-ending injury), Diggs is looking to return with a vengeance this fall.
With that in mind, Dr. Sharif Tabbah (who oversaw Diggs’ rehab over the offseason) revealed on Tuesday what the four-time Pro Bowler’s goal is for this season.
“All of us at Alkeme Sports Rx are happy for Stefon he worked diligently with us for the last 8 months preparing for this moment he really deserves it. I’m glad the team is pleased enough with the results for him to get the green light for full go in camp! Our next goal is Comeback Player of the Year! That’s in his hands now…” Tabbah told Christopher Price of the Boston Globe.
Diggs earned all of his Pro Bowl honors from 2020-23 with the Buffalo Bills and if he can come close to returning to his prime, a Comeback Player of the Year honor could be his next accolade.
