Nick Shook of NFL.com named Pittsburgh Steelers second-year center Zach Frazier to his All-Under 25 Team. He expects Frazier to continue the Steelers’ great tradition of having elite centers.
“Frazier has just one NFL campaign under his belt but gave the Steelers the kind of reliability they’ve lacked from the ultra-important center position since Maurkice Pouncey’s last season in 2020, registering a top-five offensive grade among all centers last season, per PFF,” Shook wrote. “Frazier followed in Pouncey’s footsteps by earning the team’s Offensive Rookie of the Year award, the first time it was given to a center since Pouncey received it in 2010, suggesting the Steelers have finally found their successor at the pivot. General manager Omar Khan has effectively rebuilt the Pittsburgh offensive line in short order, and Frazier seems like the best choice of all, with many years of success ahead of him.”
The Steelers selected Frazier with their second-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, which may turn out to be one of the biggest steals of the draft.
Frazier gave up just one sack and 12 pressures while starting 15 games for the Steelers last season, per PFF. His 98.8 pass protection efficiency was second only to Humphrey among centers with at least 1,000 snaps this season.
According to Matt Williamson of Steelers.com, Frazier played 975 snaps with just two blown blocks in the run game, one sack allowed, and an NFL-best pressure rate among centers.
Frazier was named to the 2024 PFWA All-Rookie Team, the Pro Football Writers Association announced in January.
Bucky Brooks of NFL.com named Frazier to his 2025 NFL All-Breakout Team.
“Frazier earned high marks for his work as a rookie starter, snagging Pro Football Focus’ fifth-highest offensive grade among centers in 2024,” Brooks wrote. “Now, Aaron Rodgers’ arrival at QB will put the spotlight squarely on the former second-round selection, whose talent might be even more appreciated if he displays it while playing in front of a four-time MVP. From Frazier’s rugged play as a run-blocker to his quick hands and stout “short sets” in pass protection, he possesses the tools to emerge as a perennial Pro Bowler in Pittsburgh.”
Frazier was tabbed as the third-best center in Pro Football Focus’ recent position rankings, behind only Linderbaum and Humphrey.
“The Steelers hit it out of the park when they selected Frazier in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft. At just 24 years old, he heads into his second year poised to build on an excellent rookie campaign during which he placed fourth in PFF overall grade (77.9) among qualifying centers,” Mason Cameron of PFF wrote.
“Frazier’s all-around grading profile is solid, as he places above the 75th percentile as both a pass protector and a run blocker.”
The trajectory of Frazier’s career is certainly promising. It seems like the sky’s the limit for the West Virginia Mountaineer legend.
