The Pittsburgh Steelers may have to look somewhere else to fill the void at their No. 2 wide receiver position.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have their sights set on adding another wide receiver after trading George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys this offseason. Unfortunately, one of their options seems to be off the table.
Free agent wide receiver Gabe Davis, who the Steelers hosted on a free agent visit earlier this offseason, revealed his preferred destination is the San Fransisco 49ers.
“I went on a visit there. It was awesome,” Davis said on Up & Adams. “San Fran is definitely a spot that I’m looking at. (Kyle) Shanahan’s the man. He knows how to call an offense right, and they just got a lot of great weapons around there.”

The 49ers are certainly an intriguing team to free agents. They play in good weather for most of the season and were just in the Super Bowl two seasons ago. Pittsburgh, on the other hand, can have brutal winters and hasn’t won a playoff game in eight years.
Still, it’s a tough blow for the Steelers, who seem to be all in after acquiring several veterans this offseason like quarterback Aaron Rodgers, wide receiver DK Metcalf, tight end Jonnu Smith and cornerbacks Darius Slay and Jalen Ramsey.
Davis does come with his own risks, though. He was released by the Jacksonville Jaguars with a failed physical designation after spending most of the 2024 season dealing with a knee injury that eventually caused him to have surgery and miss the final seven games of the season.
If Davis can get healthy, he would be a great addition to Pittsburgh. Before inking a three-year, $39 million free-agent deal with the Jaguars last offseason, he recorded 163 catches for 2,700 yards and 27 touchdowns in his four years with the Buffalo Bills.
However, that is a big if, and now so is Davis eventually ending up wearing the black and gold.
