Free-agent wide receiver Gabe Davis completed his second visit with the Pittsburgh Steelers at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex on Tuesday, according to Aaron Wilson KPRC 2 Houston. As of Tuesday afternoon, there’s been no announcement of Davis’ signing, so it appears he left the facility without a contract.
The Steelers aren’t the only team potentially interested in signing Davis.
According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Buffalo Bills are also expected to host Davis on a free-agent visit this week following his meeting with Pittsburgh.
Davis first visited the Steelers back in June and has taken several visits with other NFL teams. He was unable to pass a physical coming off an injury-riddled 2024 campaign, though.
The 26-year-old was released by the Jacksonville Jaguars with a failed physical designation in May after spending most of the 2024 season dealing with a knee injury that eventually caused him to have surgery and miss the final seven games of the season.
If Davis is finally healthy, it would be a no-brainer for Pittsburgh to sign him, but he may also want to weigh his options.
Davis began his NFL career as a fourth-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft by the Bills. Over his four seasons in Buffalo, he pulled in 163 passes for 2,700 yards and 27 touchdowns as a key downfield threat for quarterback Josh Allen.
Allen would love to reunite with Davis.
“I love Gabe and I’m sure I’ll see him over the next day or two. And happy to see him,” Allen said. “Obviously love that guy. He was awesome when he was here and I know he’s getting back to full health here soon. So, who knows? We’ll see”
