DETROIT — After lying out to try to catch an Aaron Rodgers deep ball, Pittsburgh Steelers receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling remained down in the end zone. He eventually headed to the blue medical tent on the sideline.

Rock Ya-Sin covered Valdes-Scantling on the play, which would’ve been a touchdown had Valdes-Scantling held on. Valdes-Scantling’s head appeared to bounce off the turf in the end zone. He had been targeted one other time before exiting the game.

After a little while, Valdes-Scantling emerged from the tent with his helmet.

Valdes-Scantling scored his first Steelers touchdown last Monday against the Miami Dolphins, pulling in a 19-yard pass from Rodgers, his former Green Bay Packers teammate. Along with Adam Thielen, Valdes-Scantling has brought a veteran presence to the Steelers’ receivers room.

Their time on the field, however, has left Roman Wilson as an odd man out, as the Michigan product and former third-round draft pick hasn’t played since last month.

Valdes-Scantling spent the first four seasons of his career with the Packers before moving on to play with Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. He won a pair of Super Bowls playing for Andy Reid’s team, then started this season with the Seattle Seahawks. He also spent time with the San Francisco 49ers before joining the Steelers.
