Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens says he does not expect to be traded, despite the recent rumors about him.
Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens has been subject to trade rumors since he’s set to enter the final year of his rookie deal next season. Pickens doesn’t think he’s going anywhere, though.
The 33rd Team recently posted a trade idea that would send Pickens to the Washington Commanders, and in exchange, the Steelers would receive their 2025 second-round pick.

Not only did Pickens not like the idea, but he thinks projecting potential trades is a waste of everyone’s time.
“Via: Me.. these pages are not in the building. Or any facility. Just stop lying for clicks and views my brotha,” Pickens commented.
While Pickens may not believe it, his future with the Steelers does seem to be a little bit up in the air. The 23-year-old is immensely talented, but he has been inconsistent at times and dealt with unnecessary penalties on the field.
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin was also noncommittal on Pickens’ future with the team during his end-of-season news conference.
“There’s certainly, obviously, more room for growth there,” Tomlin said. “I think he covered some ground in 2024, but there’s certainly a heck of a lot more ground to be covered. We’ll see where it leads us.”
However, the Steelers can’t just move on from Pickens without a backup plan. He has been Pittsburgh’s undoubted No. 1 wide receiver. In 2024, he led the team with 900 receiving yards on 59 catches in just 14 games. The next closest player was tight end Pat Freiermuth, who registered 653 yards on 65 catches.
If the Steelers can land a wide receiver in free agency to make up for Pickens’ loss, then a trade is more likely to happen. Until then, though, Pickens may be right that he’s staying put in Pittsburgh.
