The Pittsburgh Steelers will begin their season on Sunday when they travel to New York to face the Jets, which will also feature the battle of quarterbacks facing their former teams. It will also feature a battle between one of the best receivers and one of the top cornerbacks in football, as DK Metcalf will be matched up against cornerback Sauce Gardner. Metcalf was asked about the Jets’ defense, to which he gave a pretty direct message.

“The way I look at the game, bro, is they gotta stop me,” Metcalf said Wednesday via Brian Batko of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “They gotta stop our offense. I don’t think me asking them would be a lot of insight because I feel like I’m a different player than a lot of receivers they’ve gone up against in the past.”

Metcalf had a respectable game against the Jets in 2024, catching four passes for 66 yards. His first matchup against Gardner, though, didn’t go nearly as well, as he was held to just one catch for three yards. If the Steelers want to win, they’ll need a big play or two from their new No. 1 receiver.
