PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf is coming off a disappointing performance in Sunday’s win over the Indianapolis Colts, recording just two receptions on four targets for six yards. He also had a drop.

Despite the lack of targets, Metcalf isn’t worried. All he cares about is winning.

“Y’all may get frustrated with that shit. We don’t.” Metcalf said during his media availability on Tuesday. “We just trying to win.”

Metcalf has been targeted 47 times this season through eight games, which is a notable decrease compared to his time in Seattle. Metcalf averaged 7.2 targets per game in 2024 season and 7.4 targets per game in 2023.

Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers revealed on Wednesday that he plays no favorites when it comes to targeting receivers.

“Throw it to the open guy,” Rodgers said. “Whoever gets open usually gets the opportunities.”

Rodgers said it was the same when Davante Adams was his top receiver in Green Bay.

“I just said, ‘Listen, I throw it to the open guy,’ but Davante was open more often than not,” Rodgers said. “So, he’s getting those targets. But I throw it to the open guy.”

Metcalf doesn’t mind sharing targets.

“Once you put in the work, and the time during the offseason, and even during the week, training camp, you gotta respect the guys who are getting targets,” Metcalf said. “From the moment that I’ve gotten here, everybody’s worked their butts off. So everybody rightfully deserves a shot at the ball.”

Metcalf leads the Steelers with 29 receptions for 467 yards (16.1 average) and five touchdowns. Metcalf’s 16.1 yards per reception is the second-best mark of his seven-year NFL career. His five touchdowns also match his total from last year.

The Steelers rank 24th in total pass attempts. They’re also ranked 31st in total offensive plays.

Pittsburgh has gone three-and-out on 42.5% of their drives, the highest percentage in the league, according to Matt Williamson of Steelers.com.
