Steelers Will Get a Good Look at Three Positions at Senior Bowl

The Steelers will get an opportunity to look at multiple positions at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are now looking toward the 2025 league year two weeks removed from their wildcard loss. The Steelers are known for spending particular time in Mobile, Alabama for the Senior Bowl. Three positions will likely be under the microscope in particular based on the accepted invites.

Don’t underestimate the Senior Bowl and how it plays into the draft plans for the Steelers. Players they have selected recently that participated include 2021 first-round pick Najee Harris, 2022 first-round pick Kenny Pickett, 2023 second-round Keeanu Benton, and 2024 first-round pick Troy Fautanu.

The Steelers most notably are going to be in the market for positions such as wide receiver and cornerback. However, three other positions will likely be hot on the radar for the Steelers next week in Mobile.

Interior Defensive Line

This might be under Steelers fans radars, but after a dismal wildcard performance it shouldn’t be in Pittsburgh. Benton has played very well since being drafted, however, may benefit from being shifted away from the 0-technique. Despite having an exceptional season at 35, Cameron Heyward’s future has more road behind him than ahead.

The Steelers will get a good look at players such as Georgia’s Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins, Kentucky’s Deon Walker, Ole Miss’ Walter Nolen, and plenty more. The Senior Bowl has a rich selection of these interior defenders that fans will certainly want to look at next Saturday.

Running Back

With Najee Harris eyeing a big contract as the top running back on the free-agent market, the Steelers will probably want to get fresh legs at the position alongside Jaylen Warren. The 2025 NFL Draft Class notably has been considered deep at this position.

Players such as Auburn’s Jarquez Hunter, Georgia’s Trevor Etienne, and Oklahoma State’s Ollie Gordon II all have accepted their invites and will provide Pittsburgh with a good opportunity to see their work ahead of the draft.

Quarterback

Most fans will not want the Steelers to go quarterback in this draft. However, the Steelers still need a long-term answer at the position. While Russell Wilson indicated contract talks have begun, the ending of the 2024 season has left many wondering how much in the tank he has left.

The Steelers have been linked to Alabama’s Jalen Milroe–a raw but athletic quarterback with high upside–and he will be in Mobile to make his case as a day-one selection. Additionally, some quarterbacks expected to be day-two or later picks will be on hand in Ole Miss’ Jaxson Dart, Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel, and both of the starting quarterbacks from the national title game will be at the Senior Bowl.
