The Pittsburgh Steelers may have a chance to land one of their wide receiver targets in the offseason.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have struck out on multiple occasions to add another wide receiver, but they may just get the chance to finally land one of their targets after the 2025 season concludes.
According to Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports, the Miami Dolphins are expected to move on from five-time first-team All-Pro and eight-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Tyreek Hill in the offseason.
“The five-time first-team All Pro was in the second year of a three-year contract extension with Miami, and league sources expect the Dolphins to release Hill before the start of the next league year in March 2026,” Jones wrote.
Hill, 31, suffered a serious, season-ending injury during the Dolphins’ 27-21 win over the New York Jets in Week 4. He reportedly tore multiple ligaments in his dislocated knee, including his ACL, and had surgery to repair his injury on Tuesday.
Multiple teams had been monitoring Hill’s availability as he is coming off his first sub-1,000-yard season since 2019. He recorded 21 catches for 265 yards and one touchdown before suffering his serious injury this season.
Only time will tell what Hill’s future will hold, but if what Jones’ report is true, Miami doesn’t seem to have a lot of faith in him returning as the same player.
Speculation may not be enough to hold back a wide receiver-needy team like the Steelers from taking a chance on Hill if he were to become available, though.
Pittsburgh has its sights set on going quarterback early in the 2026 NFL Draft, which would continue to push its need at wide receiver down the board. However, adding a player like Hill would allow the team to focus even more on the most important position.
There’s no guarantee Hill will even be ready for the 2026 season, but it will certainly be a situation to monitor.
A fifth-round pick by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2016, Hill has recorded 819 catches for 11,363 yards and 83 touchdowns in his 10-year NFL career.
