Behind the Steel Curtain
Welcome to the Week 10 mailbag!
Apologies for the delay, but it was for a good reason – Todd Haley came on Bleav In Steelers, which you can listen to now.
Before you do, though, let’s get into your questions.
Q: JB, so how much money did you make on the Steelers game over the Colts? – Polamolicules_Dude
A: Had them in a three-leg parlay that won $160 and straight up that added roughly $100 more. Confidence in them paid off.
Q: Broderick Jones’ 5th year option should be right around $20M for 2027. You have to decide this offseason. Yay or nay? And why? – AmpersandSteel
A: I would. Broderick is played largely well in 2025, save for the Jets game in Week 1. The tackle market will only continue to get more expensive, so I’d keep him around.
Q: Cornerback Asante Samuel Jr. is reportedly (I love that word! 🤣) visiting the Steelers next week. He’s said to have been (pre-injury) a skilled and gifted cover corner, but a bit of a liability against the run because of his lack of desired size. If the franchise doesn’t choose to sign him, are there any other corners (good ones) to be had, now that the trade deadline has passed? – SteelerSince73
A: I do find it interesting that Pittsburgh is the final team Samuel is visiting. I’d be ecstatic if they sign him. When you reach this point in the season, there aren’t high-quality free agents just laying around. Samuel was due to waiting to get cleared from injury. Outside of him, there aren’t any high-quality players on the market. Kendall Fuller would be the best name available.
Q: I saw an article elsewhere that said something like 22 players on our roster will be Free Agents at the end of the season. As we sit here going into week 10, who among them is on your ‘re-sign’ list, and who do would you let walk? – ThePen_IsMightier
A: The ones I’d bring back: Aaron Rodgers (if he wanted to play another year), Kyle Dugger, Miles Killebrew, Corliss Waitman, Calvin Austin, Cole Holcomb. They may bring back a few of the depth free agents, but the ones I named would be my priority guys.
Q: With Seumalo nursing a pec injury that could linger, who are some good names in FA that we could bring in to fill that position or provide depth? – BozHog
A: Similar answer to the Samuel question, there just aren’t any difference-makers sitting around this time of year, especially on the offensive line. They’ll stay in house with the guys they have as replacements for Seumalo. Spencer Anderson, Ryan McCollum, Andrus Peat will be the guys to watch in this case.
Q: Is a 40 lb rabbit fat? – Pittsblitz56
A: I assume this is a meme/inside joke I’m not aware of.
