The Pittsburgh Steelers did not make any practice squad elevations on Saturday, according to the NFL transactions page, so they will face the Chicago Bears in Week 12 on Sunday with just the 53 players on their active roster. That means that veterans Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Asante Samuel Jr. will have to wait at least one more week to make their debuts with the team.

The Steelers had until 5 p.m. on Saturday to make elevations of players, in order for them to be eligible to play on Sunday.

It will make the third straight week that Valdes-Scantling has remained on the sidelines after signing with the Steelers on Nov. 4, and the second week sitting out for Samuel since signing on Nov. 12.

Both players joined the Steelers after recovering from injuries, with Samuel having offseason spinal fusion surgery and Valdes-Scantling suffering a calf injury with the San Francisco 49ers before he was released early this season.

Each player can play a maximum of three games while being activated from the practice squad per season. One Steelers player has reached his maximum: running back Trey Sermon. Linebacker Mark Robinson has been elevated in each of the last two weeks.

The Steelers have just two players who are dealing with injuries entering the game: outside linebacker Alex Highsmith (pec), who is doubtful, and quarterback Aaron Rodgers (left wrist), who is questionable.
