Steelers cornerback Joey Porter Jr. (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Seahawks. Strong safety DeShon Elliott (knee) and rookie defensive tackle Derrick Harmon (knee) were also officially ruled out.
Outside linebacker Alex Highsmith was limited on Friday with an ankle injury but has no injury designation for the game and will play.
Linebacker Malik Harrison was placed on the injured reserve list on Wednesday after suffering an injury during the team’s Week 1 game against the New York Jets.
The Steelers elevated linebacker Jon Rhattigan from the practice squad to the active roster for Sunday’s game against the Seahawks. Rhattigan played for the Seahawks from 2021-2023.
THE LAST TIME
Quarterback Mason Rudolph led the Steelers to a 30-23 win over the Seahawks in Seattle to keep Pittsburgh’s playoff hopes alive.
Rudolph completed 18 of 24 passes (75%) for 274 yards, no touchdowns, no interceptions, and a 112.2 passer rating. While Rudolph was efficient, the Steelers dominated in the run game, rushing for 202 yards on 46 carries (4.4 average) and three touchdowns.
Outside linebacker Nick Herbig had a key sack/forced fumble in the fourth quarter on Geno Smith. Six plays later, Chris Boswell nailed a 21-yard field goal to extend the Steelers lead to 30-20 with 4:31 remaining.
The Seahawks got a field goal on the ensuing possession, but two first downs by the Steelers offense closed out the game.
The Steelers are 11-10 all-time against the Seahawks. Under Mike Tomlin, the Steelers are 4-2 against Seattle.
The most notable Steelers-Seahawks matchup was Super Bowl XL on Feb. 5, 2006. The Steelers defeated Seattle, 21-10. Hines Ward was named Super Bowl MVP, recording five receptions for 123 receiving yards (24.6 average), and caught a 43-yard touchdown reception from wide receiver Antwaan Randle El to seal the Steelers’ victory.
Former Steelers wide receiver Cody White is on the Seahawks’ practice squad. White’s father, Sheldon White, is the Steelers’ director of professional scouting.
Steelers legend Troy Polamalu’s uncle, Kennedy Polamalu, is the Seahawks running backs coach.
