The newly designed 1933 throwback uniforms pay homage to the 1933 team as well as the City of Pittsburgh’s rich legacy.
“We’re excited to unveil our new throwback uniforms which not only pay tribute to the origins of the Steelers franchise but also to the deep connection we have to our hometown of Pittsburgh,” Steelers President Art Rooney II said. “It’s especially fitting that we’ll debut these uniforms on Sunday night, October 26 when we play the Green Bay Packers – another franchise in the league with a long and rich history.”
The Steelers last wore their 1933 throwback uniforms in 1994, but this time, they will wear their gold helmets, too.

The gold throwback jersey features black stripes, with large white block letters trimmed in black on the front. The front will also prominently feature the City of Pittsburgh crest on the left shoulder to honor the team’s connection to the city, while on the back of the jersey are large black block numbers.
The helmet features a gold matte finish with a gray facemask and a black stripe down the middle, while the players will complete the look with beige uniform pants.
“The yellow helmet is sweet,” tight end Pat Freiermuth said. “We’ve worn black helmets since I’ve been here, and well before that, and just switching it up to a new helmet I love. It gets players excited. It gets the fans excited. It’s something cool to showcase. After we wear them, I want to keep that helmet forever. It’s super cool.”
Pittsburgh will wear the uniforms for their Week 8 matchup against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football at Acrisure Stadium.
“I’m really excited for it, and to be wearing them on Sunday Night Football, it’s going to be awesome,” linebacker Alex Highsmith said. “Everyone’s going to be able to see them. It won’t be a regular one o’clock game. It’ll be a primetime game. I’m just excited for everyone to see them.
