The Pittsburgh Steelers hosted a wide receiver with ties to Aaron Rodgers for a tryout on Tuesday, bringing in former Green Bay Packers wideout Samori Toure, according to the NFL transactions page.
Toure, 27, spent two seasons with the Packers from 2022-23, spending one of those years with Rodgers.
A seventh-round pick for Green Bay out of Nebraska in 2022, he played in 11 games and made two starts as a rookie, catching five passes for 82 yards and a touchdown. In 2023, he played in 11 games and caught eight passes for 78 yards. He also returned one punt and line up on the kickoff return unit for Green Bay.
Toure was injured at the very end of the 2023 season and he was released by Green Bay on Aug. 27, 2024. He signed with the Chicago Bears practice squad and spent all of last season on the Chicago practice unit without appearing in a game.
He re-signed with Chicago for 2025, and appeared in three preseason games for Chicago this offseason, making five catches for 72 yards.
In his career, Toure has split time evenly between the slot and outside receiver positions.
A 6-foot-1, 191-pound receiver, Toure posted a 4.48-second 40-yard dash, 34-inch vertical and 10-foot-4 broad jump coming out of Nebraska in 2022, for a 6.15 Relative Athletic Score out of 10.
Toure spent just one season at Nebraska, catching 46 passes for 898 yards and a Big Ten-leading 19.5 yards per reception in 2021. He also ran eight times for 63 yards and scored six total touchdowns.
Before his time at Minnesota, Toure spent four seasons with the Montana Grizzlies from 2016-19, where he was a teammate of Steelers tackle Dylan Cook. His best season in Montana was 2019, when he caught 87 passes for 1,495 yards and 13 touchdowns while earning an FCS All-American nod.
