The Pittsburgh Steelers have began their search for their next head coach. There are three betting-odds favorites identified who also have interviews in Pittsburgh.

After the Pittsburgh Steelers’ fans, ownership, and players were given the stunning news of head coach Mike Tomlin’s retirement, the focus has now shifted to the next leader. As the interviews begin to stack up, there are now three betting favorites.

The top three betting favorites have been identified by Kalshi Market sites.

Chris Shula 42%

There certainly has been a lot of smoke for the grandson of the NFL’s all-time win leaders. Shula not only fits the mold of the last three Steelers hires, but he has also received multiple interview requests across the league.

Shula is currently the Los Angeles Rams’ defensive coordinator. The unit was one of the NFL’s best despite numerous injuries. Not only that, but his relationship with Sean McVay staffers have given fans optimism over his potential offensive coordinator selection.

Shula’s odds have dipped slightly–down from 48% a day ago–but make no mistake that he is the betting favorite. Afterall, reports surfaced during the season that the Steelers had done their due diligence on him in anticipation of Tomlin potentially retiring.

Brian Flores 17%

Flores is a young, defensive background candidate. However, he has been a head coach before–deviating slightly from the Steelers’ three most recent hires being first timers. However, Flores’ time in Miami wasn’t all bad.

Despite his tumultuous relationship with his quarterback, he led the Dolphins to back-to-back winning seasons in 2020 and 2021. Miami had not experienced this since 2003.

Of course, after his departure from Miami, he joined the Steelers staff for a year in 2022. Afterwards, he went to Minnesota, where Flores produced one of the most efficient units in the league.

Flores made a great impression on the Steelers staff in 2022. His previous high was 32% this week in odds projections.

Nathan Scheelhaase 15%

A dark horse candidate, Scheelhaase has not only been tied to Shula in a potential two-for-one hire, but he has also received other head coaching interview invites. This week alone, he has accelerated market projections.

Scheelhaase would check all of the boxes the Steelers look for, aside from being on the opposite side of the ball. However, it’s been notable on social media that fans might be strongly on board with this.

Scheelhaase, like Shula, has served under McVay and has earned immense praise from the LA Rams’ head coach. There’s always the possibility that if he is not hired as head coach, if Shula were to be hired, he could receive an OC offer for the Steelers in 2026.
