Former Seattle Seahawks fourth-round defensive tackle Cameron Young is scheduled to work out for the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday, according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston. Young previously worked out for the Houston Texans.

Young’s work out comes on the heels of defensive tackle Esezi Otomewo suffering a knee injury at practice on Wednesday. Otomewo is being evaluated, head coach Mike Tomlin announced.

Otomewo and Joey Porter Jr. teamed up to stop a Kaleb Johnson run during the seven shots period of Wednesday’s practice. Otomewo was slow to get up and was helped off the field.

“We had one injury to speak of,” Tomlin said. “O went down. His knee is being evaluated. The rest is just bumps and bruises associated with play, a few heat related things, nothing that should be long term with anyone else.”

Otomewo, 26, is in his first season with the Steelers. He signed with the team early this offseason after spending the last two seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Young was drafted in 2023 and played two seasons with the Seahawks. During his tenure in Seattle, he recorded 18 tackles, one tackle for loss, one quarterback hit and one pass defended. The Seahawks waived him in April due to a knee injury that he sustained in 2024 that placed him on injured reserve.

Young spent a few months with the Green Bay Packers this offseason, but was released on July 19.

During his last season at Mississippi State in 2022, Young appeared and started in all 13 games, finishing with 37 tackles including 3.0 tackles for loss and 1.0 sacks.

Young, who’s a native of Crosby, Miss, stands at 6-foot-3, 315 pounds.
