PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth took a step forward at practice on Thursday, working as full participant in Thursday’s session, and it appears likely that he will play on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts.
Freiermuth was listed on the team’s injury report with a quad injury on Wednesday. He suffered a quad contusion during the team’s Week 8 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football, per a team source. The injury limited him to 27 snaps against the Packers. He finished with three catches for 13 yards on the game.
He had been coming off a season high, when he caught five passes for 111 yards and two touchdowns against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 7. Freiermuth has had lot of career success against the Bengals, which continued even after the departure of defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo this year.
Anarumo is now the defensive coordinator of the Colts, so Freiermuth will look to continue his dominance against his unit, assuming he is able to get back on the practice field by the end of the week.
