Kyle Brandt of NFL Network named Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Darnell Washington as the Week 11 Angry Runs winner for his viral play against the Cincinnati Bengals when he bulldozed through three defenders.
“Way too big of a dude to be running like that,” Brandt said. “This was the Godfather trilogy of runs, except he stuck the landing on part three.”
Washington was nominated three times for his 31-yard catch and run, one time for each of the Bengals defenders he demolished. It’s the first time one player swept the finalist nominations.
“There are some guys in the league that had really good Angry Runs this week,” Brand saidt. “But there was no room at the inn.I couldn’t just put Darnell as one. This thing is going to the Steel City.
“Darnell Washington, you have made history, you have infamy and you have the Scepter. It’s going back to where it belongs. An all-time Angry Runs.”
Washington had a banner day in the Steelers’ 34-12 win over Cincinnati on Sunday, recording four receptions for 67 yards (16.8 average). He also got a first down on a third-and-17 play in which he dragged a Bengals defender.
Former Bengals wide receiver Chad Johnson joked that he wants to Washington after he embarrassed his squad on Sunday.
“I want to fight Darnell Washington, I must [get] my revenge [for] my teammates,” Johnson wrote on X.
Washington responded with two crying laughing emojis.
Washington has really emerged as a pass-catcher in his fourth season with the Steelers. He’s still a dominant blocker, as well. On the season, he has caught 18 passes for 209 yards (11.6 average) and one touchdown.
