Pittsburgh Steelers corner Darius Slay took issue with Pro Football Focus charting him incorrectly for his week five performance.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are oftentimes caught in the crossfire of Pro Football Focus. Usually, it is related to the controversial “grading” system. However, on Thursday, cornerback Darius Slay called out PFF regarding his personal performance.

Now PFF I kno u lying 😂 https://t.co/40RYPPm2fO

In the post, Slay quotes, it stated he allowed the most yards in week five. According to their website, Slay allowed five receptions on six targets for a league-leading 123 yards in week five.

What might account for the bulk of that is the blown coverage in the fourth quarter. Late in that quarter, Vikings receiver Jordan Addison took a pass 81 yards, where the closest defender wasn’t within 10 yards of him. Notably, linebacker Payton Wilson sprinted down the field to prevent a touchdown.

If PFF credits this reception to Slay, defensive coordinator Teryl Austin would indicate this as incorrect, as a safety was out of position on the play. The Steelers had to run a heavy nickel defense late in the game due to injuries at cornerback.

Without that 81-yard reception, Slay allowed four receptions on five targets for 42 yards. This more aligns with his performance so far this season after a rocky start for the whole defense in week one.

Slay signed with the Steelers in March following his departure from Philadelphia, where he won a Super Bowl with the Eagles. He reunited with Teryl Austin, who was his defensive coordinator from 2014 to 2017.
