The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed veteran quarterback Logan Woodside, the team announced on Thursday. Pittsburgh lost rookie quarterback Will Howard during Tuesday’s practice to a broken bone in his throwing hand. The injury won’t need surgery, but it will cause Howard to miss the entirety of the preseason.
Woodside spent time with Arthur Smith with both the Tennessee Titans and Atlanta Falcons. He was drafted in the seventh round of the 2018 NFL Draft out of Toledo. In 13 career games, he has 10 yards passing.
The move is likely to keep four quarterbacks through the preseason, which the Steelers usually do.
