The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed former Philadelphia Eagles offensive lineman Jack Driscoll to their practice squad, the team announced on Wednesday.
Driscoll was drafted in the fourth round by the Eagles in 2020. He spent five seasons in Philadelphia, starting 18 games and playing in 67. He has ties to Steelers assistant general manager Andy Weidl, who was the vice president of player personnel for the Eagles when Driscoll was drafted.
Driscoll started one game for the Eagles last year. He won a Super Bowl championship when the Eagles defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 40–22 in Super Bowl LIX.
Driscoll played most of his at right tackle and right guard in Philadelphia. He could be a depth option for the Steelers with starting left guard Isaac Seumalo dealing with a pectoral ailment. Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin deemed Seumalo as questionable out for the team’s matchup with the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.
“Isaac Seumalo can be characterized as questionable with his pec injury,” Tomlin said Tuesday at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex. “I just had a brief conversation with him in the training room. He’s in a good mindset. He certainly is gonna be limited at the early portions of the week, but he’ll have a chance to contribute, particularly because he’s a veteran player.
“He has some global snaps in his bank that could be an asset to him in terms of being ready to play on a limited number of snaps that maybe a younger player would not have.”
If Seumalo can’t go on Sunday, Spencer Anderson will start in his place. Anderson has been a utilized in the Steelers’ jumbo package as a sixth extra offensive lineman in recent weeks. Perhaps Driscoll could fill Anderson’s role if Seumalo misses time.
