The Steelers are keeping their breakout star in town
The Pittsburgh Steelers are signing safety DeShon Elliott to a two-year, $12.5 million extension, per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. The deal includes $9.21 million in guaranteed money.
Elliott had his best season in 2024. He registered a career-high 108 tackles, including four for loss. He also had three fumble recoveries on the year and added an interception.
Elliott’s introduction to the defense gave the Steelers a real difference maker in the form of a box safety who can help stop the run, but also make plays in coverage, as well. He was entering the final year of his two-year deal that he signed with Pittsburgh ahead of the 2024 season.
While he didn’t earn any Pro Bowl or All-Pro honors, he was certainly one of the best role players in the NFL last season and helped the Steelers’ defense be one of the top units in the NFL.
