PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed former Washington Commanders first-round pick Jamin Davis after pro tryout at minicamp this week, the team announced on Thursday.
The Commanders selected Davis at 19th overall in the 2021 NFL Draft. The former Kentucky Wildcat recorded 104 tackles and three sacks in his second season with the Commanders. He followed with 89 tackles and three sacks in his 2023 campaign.
The Commanders declined the fifth-year option on Davis’ contract in April of 2024, however, and he moved to defensive end in the offseason. At minicamp, Davis worked with the Steelers’ outside linebackers.
Davis was released on Oct. 22. He appeared in five of seven games and recorded 12 tackles.
After his tenure in Washington, Davis jumped around the league. First signing to the Green Bay Packers’ practice squad and then having stints with the Minnesota Vikings and New York Jets.
On Oct. 8, 2025, Davis signed with the Las Vegas Raiders’ practice squad. He was promoted to the active roster on Nov. 11. Davis played in two games, starting in one, for the Raiders.
Davis played under Steelers defensive coordinator Patrick Graham in Las Vegas last season. On April 30, Davis was released by the Raiders.
In addition to Davis, the Steelers brought in veteran tight end Robert Tonyan, wide receiver Trayvon Rudolph, punter James Platte and inside linebacker Amari Burney for pro tryouts. Davis and Tonyan both signed with the Steelers on Thursday. So far the team has announced just one corresponding move, waiving tight end Chamon Metayer.
