PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed freakish athletic wide receiver Joaquin Davis to a one-year contract, the team announced on Thursday.

Davis is a 6-foot-4, 194 pound wide receiver in his second professional season out of North Carolina Central. He was with both the Denver Broncos and Minnesota Vikings as a rookie last season, but did not appear in a game.

Davis did not have a prolific college career, topping out at NC Central with 489 yards and four touchdowns in 11 games in 2024, but he had outstanding pre-draft athletic testing numbers.

Heading into the 2025 NFL Draft, he ran a 4.36-second 40-yard dash, and posted a 42-inch vertical and a 10-foot-4 broad jump, for an overall 9.33 Relative Athletic Score out of 10.

The Steelers have plenty of size in their receivers room, with Davis joining fellow 6-foot-4 targets DK Metcalf and Michael Pittman and 6-foot-5 A.T. Perry. But they probably don’t have anyone with Davis’ specific athletic profile.

He will replace Brandon Johnson in the wide receivers room, who was released earlier this week.

In addition to singing Davis, the Steelers also re-signed defensive back Daryl Porter Jr. and released guard Aiden Williams and long snapper Cal Adomitis.
