The Pittsburgh Steelers have a scout in attendance on Saturday for a matchup of two of the top-rising quarterback prospect in the 2026 NFL Draft: Oregon’s Dante Moore and USC’s Jayden Maiava.
It’s the second straight week the Steelers have scouted Moore and the fourth time they’ve scouted him this season. It’s the first time they’re seeing Maiava.
Maiava has seen his stock rise meteorically, with a his stock at NFL Mock Draft Database in the 700s entering the season before rocketing all the way to the second round mid-season. He is currently the No. 53 overall player.
Moore has seen a similar rise, from the 400s to his current ranking of No. 7 overall. There’s a question as to whether Moore, a junior will declare for the 2026 NFL Draft. Maiava is a redshirt junior in his fourth collegiate season and could also return to school if he chooses to.
A 6-foot-4, 225-pound native of Honolulu, Hawaii, Maiava had to compete to earn a starting job this year at USC after serving as a backup to Miller Moss in 2024.
Through 10 games this season, Maiava leads the Big Ten with 2,868 yards and has thrown for 18 touchdowns and six interceptions. Moore has 2,190 yards, 21 touchdowns and five interceptions on the season.
The Steelers also have a scout at Nippert Stadium in Cincinnati, as they’re getting a look at another rising quarterback prospect. Cincinnati Bearcats quarterback Brendan Sorsby has also been on the rise, with his stock starting in the 700s, but he’s now vaulted into the verge of the top 100. Sorsby is now currently No. 110 on the NFL Mock Draft Database consensus big board.
Sorsby is a 6-foot-3 Dallas, Texas native that started his career at Indiana before transferring to Cincinnati before the 2024 season. He threw for 2,813 yards and seven touchdowns in 2024 and is well on his way to surpassing those figures this year. He faces a tough test on Saturday in No. 11 BYU.
